Ever thought about bringing your neighborhood closer together? Ever wanted to be that catalyst for unity and camaraderie? If so, you’re in the right place! We’re here to guide you on how to organize a Neighborhood Night Out (NNO) celebration. Let’s create an unforgettable night of fun, friendship, and community bonding!
Plan Ahead
Step 1: NNO is on the first Tuesday of August. This year it’s on August 6th. Be sure to start talking with neighbors early and let them know about the event.
Get Permission
Step 2: If you’re planning to use a public space, make sure to get the necessary permissions from your local council or community association. For those located in the City of Tacoma–we coordinate street closure permits for registered groups!
Spread the Word!
Step 3: Inform your neighbors about the event. You can do this by distributing flyers, sending emails, or using social media. Once you register, we have flyers that you can easily edit with your event details.
Organize Activities
Step 4: Plan activities that will appeal to all age groups. This could be games, a potluck dinner, a talent show, or even a neighborhood cleanup.
Set Up
Step 5: On the day of the event, set up the venue early. Make sure there’s enough seating and space for the activities. Make a plan with your neighbors to assign set up and clean up assistance.
Have Fun!
Step 6: Enjoy the event! Remember, the goal is to build relationships and have fun.
